City Guide
to Salem

16 miles north of Boston ( approximately a 35-45 minute drive), Salem sits in the heart of Massachusetts' North Shore. From beaches to museums, to antique shops and architecture, the North Shore area provides a wide variety of interests, outdoor activities and entertainment for locals and tourists alike.

In the evening, numerous visitors and residents on the North Shore make it a point to finish off their summer's day by dining outdoors in the Grapevine's garden.

Designed and maintained by award-winning landscape architect Robyn Kanter, the Grapevine's courtyard has been described by Fodor's Travel Guide as a "trip back to Tuscany".

Though such a description may be a little enthusiastic -- no one will likely ever mistake the North Shore's environs for the Tuscan country side -- it testifies to the delightful atmosphere the Grapevine's courtyard offers for dining alfresco.
